The next meeting of the Lincoln County Retired School Personnel will be Tuesday, March 11, 2010 at Ryan's Buffet Restaurant on Generals Blvd in Lincolnton.
The meeting will begin at 12 noon. Please arrive between 11:00 AM and 11:30 AM so that you will have time to have your meal.
Rachel Cagle, a former scholarship winner will speak. She has been a teacher at Kiser Intermediate School for four years.
Edwina Beam, Scholarship Chairperson, will be in charge of the program. She will introduce the four scholarship recipients from the county high schools. The Nominating Committee will present their ballot of officers for 2010-2012.

The Lincoln County Retired School Personnel met on January 14 at Ryan's Buffet Restaurant. The speaker was Suzanne Peeler, a retired Lincoln County teacher who wrote a humorous and touching book about her mother-in-law, Avis Hull Peeler, another long-time Lincoln County teacher. Miss Avis, now a resident of Brian Center, suffers from Alzheimer's. Suzanne wrote "Afternoons with Miss Avis" for her daughters.

NCRSP represents our members at the state legislature and with retirement administrators to protect retirement plan benefits:
Working for annual cost of living adjustments. The COLA is not automatically granted each year by the General Assembly. / Lobbying for reasonable employer contributions to the retirement investment fund / Coordinating with other state retiree organizations in order to maximize the impact of our lobbying efforts
Note: To maintain member NEA Insurance coverage, active school personnel must join NCRSP/NCAE/NEA when they retire.

The speaker for the program was Dwight Story, liaison between NCRSP and AARP, and Mary Bethel, AARP representative, speaking on changes in the state health insurance changes and the proposed health care plan proposed by President Obama.

The District 2 Annual Meeting for all NCRSP members in Cleveland, Gaston, Lincoln, McDowell, and Rutherford counties will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2008. The meeting will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Golden Corral on Franklin Ave. in Gastonia. District 2 President Geneva Hanna will preside. Entertainment will be provided by instrumental music students of the Gaston County Schools.
